Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], January 12 (ANI): Former Karnataka Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai has condemned the alleged severing of the udders of cows in Bengaluru’s Vinayaka Nagar, calling it an inhumane act and criticizing the state government for its failure to protect animals.
In a post on X, Bommai expressed his anguish over the incident, saying, “The inhumane act of miscreants cutting the udders of cows in Vinayaka Nagar, Chamarajpet, is highly condemnable. For us, who revere the cow as a mother, this act has caused immense anguish. Such an inhuman act committed in the state’s capital during the harvest festival of Makara Sankranti clearly shows that there is no fear of the government among these miscreants.”
Bommai criticized the Congress government, alleging its negligence in protecting cows and providing adequate funding for cow shelters has emboldened such crimes. “The state government’s failure to provide proper protection to cows and neglect in funding cow shelters have encouraged such heinous crimes,” he said.
He urged the government to take immediate action against the perpetrators and ensure proper treatment for the injured cows. “No one with a conscience can forgive such acts of cruelty against mute animals. If this government has even a shred of respect for the sacred cow, it must immediately identify and arrest the culprits behind this despicable act and take appropriate action against them. The injured cows must also be given proper treatment,” Bommai added.
Bengaluru police have registered a case based on the complaint lodged by the cow owner.
According to officials, an FIR has been filed at the Cottonpet police station under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyay Samhita (BNS), 2023. (ANI)
