Patna (Bihar) [India], October 29 (ANI): Mahagathbandhan Deputy CM nominee and Vikassheel Insaan Party convenor Mukesh Sahani admitted “discord” over the seat-sharing discussions within the alliance.
Speaking to ANI on Tuesday Sahani expressed satisfaction with the number of seats he is currently contesting in the Bihar elections, noting that earlier he had wanted to contest on a large number of seats, but that was not possible.
“There was some discord over seat sharing, but never over the post of Deputy CM. We wanted to contest the elections with a good number of seats, but that was not possible. I am satisfied with the numbers,” Mukesh Sahani told ANI.
The Vikassheel Insaan Party, part of the Mahagathbandhan, has fielded candidates on 15 seats in the Bihar assembly elections.
Sahani also ruled out supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party in the future, highlighting his candidature for Deputy CM in the Mahagathbandhan.
“I have been declared the Deputy CM face, why would I go with the BJP? I will work under the leadership of Tejashwi Yadav, who is my younger brother,” Sahani said.
He further accused the BJP of breaking parties, focusing on the split of Shiv Sena in Maharashtra. Sahani also noted that he would support the National Democratic Alliance, he would have to obey the orders which would be given from New Delhi.
“If I join hands with them, will they consider me a leader? I will have to obey the decision given from Delhi…The BJP always breaks the party with which they form an alliance; they destroyed Shiv Sena (UBT), you can see the condition of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar also,” he added.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Mahagathbandhan, released its manifesto titled ‘Bihar Ka Tejashwi Pran’, outlining key promises ahead of the polls, while addressing a joint press conference in Patna.
According to the manifesto, under the ‘Mai-Behin Maan Yojana’, women will receive financial assistance of Rs 2,500 per month from December 1 for the next five years.
The Opposition’s alliance promised to implement the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). OPS has been on the Congress agenda since the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led government in Himachal Pradesh restored it soon after assuming office. Congress had also included it in its manifesto for the Haryana Assembly polls.
Mahagathbandhan has promised to put the Waqf (Amendment) Act on hold, and to make the management of Waqf properties “welfare-oriented and transparent”.
The 2025 Bihar elections will have the main contest between the National Democratic Alliance and the Mahagathbandhan.NDA includes the Bharatiya Janata Party, Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha.
Mahagathbandhan, led by Rashtriya Janata Dal, includes Congress party, the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (CPI-ML) led by Deepankar Bhattacharya, the Communist Party of India (CPI), the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM), and Mukesh Sahani’s Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP).
Additionally, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj has staked claims to all 243 seats in the state. The assembly elections will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11. The results will be declared on November 14. (ANI)
