Agartala (Tripura) [India], June 25 (ANI): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Monday congratulated Union Health Minister JP Nadda on being appointed as the Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha.
“Hearty congratulations and best wishes to BJP National President and Union Health Minister JP Nadda on being appointed as the Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha,” Tripura CM posted on X.
Earlier on Monday, Union Minister JP Nadda was appointed the Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha.
Nadda will be replacing Union Minister Piyush Goyal as the Leader of the Upper House.
Nadda assumed charge as Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare on June 11. He has been allocated the portfolio of Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers.
He also continues to serve as the BJP’s national president.
Nadda served as the Union Health Minister in BJP government from 2014-19. The party contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and several assembly polls under his leadership. He is currently Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat.
The 264th session of Rajya Sabha will commence on June 27 and will conclude on July 3.
Meanwhile, the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha post-General Elections 2024 commenced earlier in the day with the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected members, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The session will conclude on July 3.
Union Ministers Bhupender Yadav, Giriraj Singh, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, JD(U) MP Rajiv Ranjan (Lalan) Singh, BJP MP Piyush Goyal, Chirag Paswan, Kiren Rijiju, Nitin Gadkari and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also took oaths as members of the 18th Lok Sabha.
BJP MP Bhartruhari Mahtab took oath as the pro-tem Speaker of the Lok Sabha. President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath to him. Mahtub then invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Leader of the Lok Sabha, to take oath as a member of the House. (ANI)
